Bert’s Boogie
Another from the pen of Che McC, this is an unashamed dedication to Cherrywood’s hero, Bert Weedon. In amongst the joyful, unrestrained paroxysms of 1 bar rock n’roll, lies a message of unparalleled revolution.
On this classic recording, Reg conceives a clever rhythmic surge, built on a backdrop of dual rhythm guitars by Ginger Marks and Justin Trend, Mike’s phenomenal bass lines, the subtle Afro-rhythms of Skid on drums, not to mention reverb courtesy of Horse, further persuade the listener to hear a cornucopia of esoteric paroxysm.
The vocals of Cherrywood, Rock, Skid, Justin and Ginger add to something completely magical
I don’t know about you, the listener, but hearing this brings tears to my eyes, just as It did at the time, back in 2015.
Unfortunately, there are no longer any photographic records left of this particular recording so an image taken in 1968 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall showing the Pink Floyd has been used as the nearest equivalent.
