What might have been
Before the Pants ever recorded, they had been dabbling with the intricacies of projecting their (very stylish) image to the wider world. It was therefore only to be expected that these intellectual geniuses had cracked the advertising, design, PR and marketing elements of their product well before any recordings had been laid.
In fact, the very first album, The 7 moons, had 531 alternative covers to be chosen from, the image displayed here is the one that narrowly lost out to the classic mono example (see inlay) to be found on the final release.
It is our intention to show many other examples of the development of ‘style’ elements that occurred in this exciting era.
