Reginald Banana
Reggie was the father figure of the band. Born as Raymond Craigie into the era of Bert Weedon and Les Paul, guitarists, who had a profound influence on the impressionable child.
Reg acquired a guitar at the age of 4, by this time he was so hooked on the music of The Shadows that with constant practice he could, by the age of 25, manage the 3 chords of ‘Apache’.
Reg then met Skid and lured by the promise of fame ,fortune, wine, women and clean underwear he leapt aboard the Alternative Rock Avalanche that became known as The Dirty Pants Experience*.
Sadly, Reg disappeared from public view after an infamous ‘Ring of Fire’ occurence, and despite a brief meeting with Skid in 1953, at which time he was driving a Silver Jubilee MGB. Sad to say poor Reg was almost unrecognisable, bearded and incoherent… obviously another tragic casualty of fame and fortune
…He has not been heard of since.
* later changed to The Dirty Pants Band after a lengthy legal dispute from a then emerging trio with major record company backing
The last known photograph of Reginald, at about the time he retired to his loft, shuffling about with his feet in Kleenex Tissue boxes, shunning contact with the outside world, for fear of contracting AIDS (Anti-inflammatory dyspepsia syndrome).
