The Pants in colour
Although at the time the Pants were weaving their web of musical revolution, colour photography was a well-established medium, for official use the Pants chose to express the visual side of themselves using black and white photography.
This was a deliberate attempt to distance themselves from psychedelic copyists that began to flourish in their wake, notably in the West Coast of America. As Ginger once famously declared ‘if I want to go to the West Coast, I’ll bloody well cycle to Swanage!’
The choice of film was always Ilford HP4, although in non-band shots, colour was often used various colour reversal material was used, the favourite being Kodak Ektachrome 200ASA.
On a few very rare occasions, colour print film was experimented with, generally much slower and therefore less useful in anything but good lighting, this was only used in the summer months. the following images are examples of one of the only rolls of colour negative the Pants ever used.
